 Building Blocks (Kindergym)

Are you looking for an activity to bond with your child, burn off  some energy and set them up for a bright future?

What is Building Blocks?
Building Blocks is a movement-based program for children and their adult/caregiver*.  Building Blocks is for our youngest members in the club and the Lil' Gym Programs. 

 

*Mum or Dad can't bring the child to class? That's perfectly fine! The adult isn't limited to just parents. We commonly see family friend's, aunty/uncle or grandparents get involved in the little one's learning in the lesson.

Sessions

Classes are held once a week for 60 minutes. There are two sessions during the day run for your convenience, one morning, one afternoon.

 

Each week, children learn through many fun, engaging learning activities that involves:
 

  • Basic principles of movement and gymnastics (height, flight, swing, static, rotation, landing and balance ) which are related to the basis of ALL sports

  • Balance

  • Body  and spatial awareness

  • Co-ordination

  • Fine Motor 

  • Hand eye coordination

  • Interaction through group, parent/child and individual learning

  • Locomotion and movement patterns (e.g. run, skip, jump, animal walks, roll, swing)

  • Nursery rhymes and singing

  • Rhythm

  • Sensory

  • Safety

To you as an adult, these things may sound easy as these are things we take for granted, but had to learn through school or play!

​

Equipment
The Building Blocks class uses all the equipment in the gym from beam, bars, trampolines, to hand held equipment like hoops, tennis racquets and tweezers as we work on gross and fine motor skills in Building Blocks.

 

In fact our Building Blocks is so great, we have a whole store room dedicated to the resources in this program. So you will get bang for your buck with exposure to highly thought out set ups. What will the theme be for the week? You'll have to find out! Some themes include under the sea, pirates, Olympics, teddy bear's picnic and driving.

Benefits

This class is planned in accordance with developmental milestones for a 2-5 year old and run under a qualified Kindergym specialist (early childhood gymnastics coach).

​

The program is designed to develop the whole child, socially, emotionally, cognitively and physically through provision of safe, structured, multi - sensory environment.  This is just the general overview,  as there's so much learning your child is undergoing. It's best to see it to understand, but it's far from your average playgroup, Kindy circuit or play gym experience! 

​

Building Blocks sets up children for success in life and sports. A lot of children these days do not attain their childhood milestones due to less beneficial/quality time for physical activity programs at school as well as strict regulation of play(school and public parks) as more time by children, is spent being engaged with technology or focusing on academic material. So, whether your child continues with gymnastics into other Building Blocks, Levels or Gymnastics For All Programs, or, go to other sports - the skills they've learnt should help them where ever they go!
